About the conference

Bringing the two sides of the living world to one table

Biodiversity and biotechnology are too often discussed in separate rooms, one measuring what is lost, the other engineering what comes next. ICBB puts them in the same room.

The organizing committee of the tenth International Conference on Biodiversity and Biotechnology is delighted to announce that ICBB10 will be hosted by the Kuwait Environment Protection Society and the Société Zoologique de France, entirely online, from 12 to 14 March 2027.

Plains, mountains, deserts, steppes, rivers, lakes, lagoons and coastal seas, and the living populations that depend on them, are all vulnerable to the combined pressure of human activity, global warming and environmental change. With a focus on flora and fauna, species resilience and management, ICBB10 fosters scientific collaboration, knowledge exchange between science and society, and the development of practical strategies and solutions.

Biotechnology in its widest sense spans modern agriculture and food production, pharmaceuticals, waste valorisation, environmental monitoring and ecosystem management. Used wisely, it can promote species diversity and secure ecosystem services. The conference enriches the dialogue between scientists in both fields and informs decision-makers of the measures that protect vulnerable species, their habitats and the services they provide.

How ICBB10 works

  • Three days of live oral and poster sessions on a professional video platform
  • Eight scientific tracks, framed as research questions
  • Up to two communications per registration, at least one of which a poster
  • Publication pathways in four partner journals
  • Fully online: no travel, no visa, open to every laboratory

Biotechnology, phytochemistry & bioresources

01

How do we turn genetic and agronomic innovation into value without eroding the diversity it depends on?

Population genetics · genetic improvement of plants · agronomy & innovation · bioresource transformation · zootechnics & animal husbandry · valorisation of bioresources · safeguarding endangered species · habitat regulation

Habitats, ecosystem boundaries & invasive species

02

Where exactly does a sustainable ecosystem begin and end, and who is crossing the line?

Protection & conservation of species habitats · critical habitat factors · defining boundaries for sustainable ecosystems · biological invasions

Medicinal & aromatic plants, pollinators & wild trade

03

Can we scale the economy of useful plants and honey without losing the insects and species that make it possible?

Honey plants & beekeeping development · flowering plants & pollination · insecticide control · poaching & illegal trade in wild species

Restoring natural & semi-natural ecosystems

04

What does successful restoration look like for fragile species, and how do we measure it?

Ecosystem structure & function · fragile and rare species · habitat integrity: forests, wetlands, mountains, coasts, deserts · national parks & biological reserves

Constructed, agricultural & urban ecosystems

05

How do zoos, gardens, farms, cities and engineered landscapes become net contributors to biodiversity?

Rehabilitation of zoos & exotic gardens · landscape engineering & hydrology · climate mitigation · urban & peri-urban biodiversity · agricultural irrigation problems · sheep breeding systems

Pollution, ecotoxicology & One Health

06

Which contaminants are reshaping plant and animal communities, and what does that mean for human health?

Ecotoxicology · parasitology & integrated biological control · chemical & particulate monitoring · water, soil & air impacts · industry–environment interactions · public health & regulation

Crisis, risk & decision support

07

Can observation systems and models warn decision-makers before the red tide, the flood or the dust storm arrives?

Natural disasters · red tides & fish kills · floods · dust storms · observation systems · monitoring & predictive modelling

Marine & freshwater ecosystems

08

How do we manage, farm and repopulate aquatic systems while keeping their food webs intact?

Aquaculture & pisciculture · breeding & restocking · protected areas · trophic chain integrity · microorganisms, flora & fauna interactions
